Kate is a social media and marketing professional with a background in communications, advertising, and social media management possessing a flair for creativity, an exceptional attention to detail, and a passion for cultivating online communities.

With a bachelor’s degree in Communications from the University of Michigan, Kate has been studying and engaged in the field of marketing for more than 15 years. While at the University of Michigan, Kate also completed a study abroad program in Madrid, Spain along with a minor in Spanish Language.

Following her time at the University of Michigan, Kate moved to Chicago, Illinois and spent two years working at the renowned Chicago Tribune newspaper in the advertising department creating ad strategies for a wide range of businesses.

In 2009, Kate moved to Los Angeles, CA in search of warmer weather and new opportunities and was lucky to begin a seven year tenure at YogaWorks as a retail buyer offering in-depth experience in sales, marketing, and product design.

During this time, Kate also began to volunteer for Mischief Management, an international events production company focusing on fan conventions, as their Director of Communications. It was through this experience that she really found her passion for working in the marketing and social media field. This opportunity led Kate to begin to work one-on-one with brands to execute and manage their marketing strategies leading to the creation of Kate Barnes Consulting in 2016.
